Virtual reality is a new kind of technology which main purpose is to immerse the user in a virtual world, the technology behind VR was first seen in the 1970's when VR was used for training and simulation purposes, however it would only gain traction in the wider public eye with the announcement in 2010 when Palmer Luckey designed the first prototype of the Oculus Rift, In 2012 The Rift was showed off at Gaming convention E3 BY John Carmack and in 2014 facebook purchased the Oculus VR company for 3 billion
VR's Current most popular usage for most consumers is most likely Gaming, as The Largest Companies that produce VR headsets (Steam, META/Facebook) have pushed headsets with a large library of games to choose from |
